Dear Taxi Driver
Someone told me you work 20 hours a shift.
You are often surrounded by people, but you are alone. People talk to you, but they seldom say hello, goodbye or thank you. You are a taxi driver.
Your rear-view mirror is your daily window into humanity. You see and hear a lot: Business deals gone good – or bad, friends’ party plans, drunken slurs, romantic quarrels and giggles. You experience the best and worst. It all happens with you right there. Why? Because people are so unaware of you.
I want to tell you that someone thinks of you. This person tries to talk with you. Asks about your life, your family, your opinions. I try to treat you as more than just a driver. I try to treat you as a person. But, I am ashamed to say it, I sometimes fail.
But dear friend, there is another Friend who is always with you – even when you think you are alone. He is concerned about your life, your family, your hopes and dreams. He knows your ideals. He understands your worries. In fact, He loves and care for you, more than you do yourself. Furthermore, He can help you. His name is Jesus.
Life is like a road. We are all going somewhere. We are all responsible for steering our own lives. A good driver knows their way around the city. He is confident and ready for what happens on the road. Do you know that it is also possible to be confident about life? This is because we can know the Way. Jesus said, “I am the Way.” He did not say, “I will show you the way.” He said, “I am the way.” He is not speaking about a map – but rather a relationship that you can have with the God of the universe. A relationship where you can be confident and happy, because you know that He cares for you.
This may be your first introduction to Jesus. If you want to know more, please go to 真爱生活 www.zhenaishenghuo.org and download His Words in the Bible. We suggest you read these books first: John, then Acts, then Galatians then Ephesians.
I hope to see you in your taxi again soon, but even if we don’t, Jesus is with you. You are not alone.
